Postcards From the Here and Now

(Snapped on 12/01/12 - using an iPhone and Instagram filters)

My youngest daughter danced in four separate performances of The Nutcracker, this weekend - and for the first time in many, many years - the annual production took place on the stage at John Handley High School in Winchester, Va.

After I dropped her off for the first performance, I walked around the campus snapping pictures with my phone. I couldn't believe that I had the whole place to myself for as long as I did - you may notice that there's not a living soul to be seen anywhere in this wide, sweeping shot.

Later on in the evening, while messing with the day's pics. on Instagram - I layered a few different filters onto the photo above, and thought that it resembled an old postcard from the '60's or '70's. Next I cropped it from the classic Instagram square - to a rectangle, and there ya' have it! A vintage-looking postcard from the present!
