Simply De-VINE

(This is an older post that I started writing more than a year and a half ago, but for whatever reason - I never completed/published it - ...I found it while going through all of my old entries, as I determine which ones are suitable to repost. I decided to finish writing it this morning...)

I try and always remember to send "thank you" notes to the kind folks who allow me to tromp around their property taking pictures, and the one that I sent to the junk car graveyard owner - showed the back end of an old Ford Fairlane. While on the phone with him one day, asking if it'd be all right for me to come back and take more pictures there at his place - he inquired about the car in the photo that I'd glued onto his "thank you" card. He wondered if the photo had been snapped on his lot. I said, "Yes" and he puzzled, "Huh...I had no idea that car was even back there"

Next he asked if I thought I'd be able to take him to where the Fairlane sat on his lot, and I was absolutely certain that I could...after so many repeat visits to his vast, old car graveyard, and so much time spent meticulously scouring the acres of permanently parked, antique cars - I had a pretty good mental inventory of the treasures kept there.

The car graveyard owner and I met at the edge of the lot, one afternoon - and as we methodically scooted between tight rows of cars, and climbed over, under, and through intricate networks of tightly woven vines - on our quest to find the prized Ford Fairlane - I snapped a slew of new pics. with my iPhone and Holga (some of which I've shared with you here in this post). By the time we reached the forgotten, old Ford - I was beyond grateful to have had yet another fortuitous photo session with the scrummy, old cars, and the property owner was stoked to be face to face with the dream car that he'd sought but never found, for many years. Figuring out how to go about extricating the Fairlane from literally the center of the lot - definitely had the guy stumped, but his joy in having simply found it - seemed to override sorting out the complicated logistics. We thanked each other, said, "Goodbye", and both of us left feeling happy and content...
